Founded in 1889, perched on a hill above the city of St Gallen, Institut auf dem Rosenberg is one of the oldest and most well- known private international boarding schools in Switzerland. For over 130 years and over four generations of the Gademann family, this boutique artisanal Institution is offering an unmatched learning environment promoting individuality and fostering natural curiosity, whilst enabling excellent academic achievements. With a unique holistic, creative and entrepreneurial approach to education ‘Rosenberg’ offers its students a wide choice of over 100 co-curricular options in addition to a set of different school systems: International Baccalaureate (IB), German International Baccalaureate (GIB), American High School Diploma & Advanced Placement (HSD & AP’s) and GCE A-Levels.
The 230 Students, from over 50 different nationalities in the age of 6-18 years live in a truly international, multilingual environment. The average class size of 8 students as well as their Individual development Planning – IDP® – ensures that students of all ages receive personal guidance to carefully plan and support their individual attention enabling each student to reach their full potential.
Boarding school & Life
Rosenberg’s facilities are second-to-none with latest generation smartboards, a google styled Creative Lab, a Multi Media Center, the Mario J. Molina Science Center featuring industry professional science laboratory, a ground breaking Future Park, recreational spaces and dedicated sports facilities such as ATP surface tennis courts as well as a Health & Fitness Club and a 400 sqm Golf training facility all within the 25hectars of private Parklands. The 13 classical art-noveau-Villas are all recently renovated and feature dorm rooms as well as classrooms for Rosenberg students. The Dorm rooms at Rosenberg have cherry hard-wood floors with simple yet elegant furniture and en-suite marble bathrooms. Furthermore, Rosenberg believes that meals provided should be in line with their educational philosophy supporting the students demanding schedules. The Michelin-Star trained Executive Chef focuses on a healthy and well-rounded diet, in accordance to seasonal and regional products on a healthy basis preparing all dishes served in house.
On weekends Rosenberg students have the opportunity to debate at the Model United Nations alongside students from leading universities such as ETH in Zurich & Oxford University, alternatively working at Switzerland’s leading hotel The Chedi Andermatt, or experiencing blockchain technologies in the in-house Creative Lab, plus many cultural trips in- and outside of Europe. Students also immerse in creative thinking through workshops with professionals – such as Engineers at ABB, Architects at Norman Foster Foundation – from around the world and leading professors from universities like Harvard.
Since 2019 Rosenberg does not offer the day school option anymore and are a complete Boarding school excluding our primary school students.
