About School:

Located in the Swiss Alps, in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, Leysin American School (LAS) was founded by Fred and Sigrid Ott. Today it is the family third generation that manages the school. Students aged from 3 to 18 come from more than 50 countries worldwide to attend the school academic program.

This institution believes in the traditional quality and excellence of Swiss schools’ education.

With more than 60 years of experience, LAS has always vowed to take great care of their students’ education and to create a family-like environment. Students receive support and guidance from the teachers, house parents and faculty team members.

With a population 0f 4’000, Leysin is a beautiful village located in the Alpine resort with amazing views of the Rhone Valley.

This location is also near numerous great destinations across Germany, France and Italy. It is just two hours from the Geneva airport and 3 hours from Zurich International airport.

Academic:

Education from grade 7 through 12 is given at LAS cumulating in the International Baccalaureate or the US High School diploma program.

Average size for classes are about 12. They can be a minimum of to a maximum of 24 per class.

The guidance at LAS is to encourage all students to reach their full potential in every area, developing new skills and strengths in the process.

This rigorous and prestigious program, which is internationally recognized, allows students to be admitted to strong universities placements.

Boarding life:

LAS believes in a stable, caring, supportive and family-like environment where students receive guidance through individual and daily interactions.

Students have the opportunity to appreciate and understand other cultures by living all together. They recognize the differences in languages, food or traditional costumes.

The dormitories are separated by age group and between boys and girls.

Lots of outdoors activities are offered to students. They provide activities such as mountaineering, rock-climbing, hiking, bicycling, caving, tent camping, overnights at nearby locations, skiing and more.

The school encourage all students to be active in the outdoors while they staying in LAS.
