Swiss watchmaking industry

Since ever, measuring time has always been a passion for Physicists, astronomers, architects, mathematicians, and so many others. The first Swiss watch industry was born in the city of Geneva in the 16th century under the name of “Maîtrise des horlogers de Genève”. For more than four centuries the Swiss watch makers have known how to develop this industry, to innovate and to maintain their sovereignty and leadership in this market.

About the Swiss watch industry

Today watch exportation industry is the third biggest export industry for Switzerland after pharmaceutical and machinery industry. Being the leaders of this market the Swiss watch makers have known how to satisfy their worldwide clients. Producing different type of watches such as quartz watches which cost only few Swiss francs to those of complicated mechanics costing hundreds of thousands Swiss francs. This diversity in mechanic and price have given the Swiss watch industry the possibility to continue being successful with a growing business.

In addition to low cost and high cost watches, the Swiss watch industry have been able to offer limitless type and range of watch products such as fashion, classic, grand complication, chronometer and watches with precious stones depriving all other competitors of beating the Swiss watch industry.
