The first American boarding school founded at Collina d’Oro. a small village overlooking Lugano Lake and only 30 minutes from Malpensa international airport in Milan/Italy. TASIS was founded in 1956 with only 12 students, the school size grows up through the years to welcome more than 700 students from more than 60 different nationalities.
The school is committed to transmitting the heritage of Western civilization and world cultures; it offers a challenging academic program also opportunities for artistic achievement and physical daily activities. Trying very hard to balance between the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom the academic and physical education aims to develop the pupil’s characters promoting their personal skills and making them believe in their abilities and potential. Compassion, responsibility, civility, Justice and truth are values TASIS seeks to instill.
TASIS offers multidisciplinary courses but strongly oriented towards arts. The Bi-annual academic travel trips to visit beautiful cities in Europe and the extracurricular artistic exhibitions, musical performances, and dramatic productions aspires students in becoming the future artist. The academic program is taught in English and Italian, most of students follow the American high school diploma and some others the International Baccalaureate. Students at TASIS have always very well performed at the IB academic program, more than 10% of TASIS student’s graduate with 40 points score of the IB program opening the doors of the outstanding colleges and universities around the world. The school counselors helps students to apply to gain acceptance from universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, Pennsylvania, Cornell, Duke, California–Berkeley, UCLA, Johns Hopkins, Bowdoin, Middlebury, ETH Zurich, EPFL Lausanne and Geneva university.

More than 260 boarding students from different countries, cultures and language live in one of the nine different dormitories TASIS possess. The house parents and working staff provide what students needs in their daily life and engaged to accompany them to become independent young adults. Some of the teachers are also dorm parents and trip leaders a unique opportunity to know students in a deep was. The relationships between students and boarding team made TASIS feel like a home.
The daily cursus is designed to challenge the student’s curiosity at every moment they spend at school. Never mind if you are a daily or boarding student TASIS accompany student to become an open mind world citizen and this is through the academic program and visits the school organize during the academic year. After study hours different sport activities are proposed such as; badminton, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field or volleyball in addition to the winter opportunities to ski and explore regions such as Zermatt, Gsttad and very famous ski resort Crans montana.
